County Antrim is one of six former counties and two county boroughs that formed Northern Ireland until 1973. Adjoined to the north-east shore of Lough Neagh, the county covers an area of 3,086 square kilometres and has a population of about 618,000. County Antrim is a perfect snapshot of Northern Ireland.
